SecureDocThe SecureDoc project was organised by TCeurope and sponsored by the European Union. The project aims to improve the safety of consumer goods sold in the European Union by improving product documentation. The Usable and safe operating manuals for consumer goods guideline is the result. The guideline provides information on the writing of user-friendly documentation, the legal framework related to documentation and processes that affect the production of documentation. The guideline also contains useful references and links, including to European Union directives and standards organisations. The main audience of the guideline consists of managers, documentation managers, and technical writers of small and medium sized enterprises, but the guideline is useful to all those interested in the safety and documentation of consumer goods. The technical communication organisations of Finland, France, Germany and the United Kingdom participated in the SecureDoc project, along with consumer organisations from Austria, Germany and Sweden. In addition, a representative of the European Union directorate responsible for health and consumer protection attended project meetings. Suomen tekniset dokumentoijat ry members Anssi Ahlberg, Tuulia Haikarainen , Nicholas Hill, Tomi Leivo, Sirpa Vellonen-Myllyla, Timo Rossi, Mervi Sivula, and Tarja Tolvanen were part of the project. The guideline is free only to members of Suomen tekniset dokumentoijat ry.
